🎛️ Pocket Spin — One-Knob Time Modulator

🌀 By PockeTone / Daniel Yuck

One-Knob Time Modulator from the Vinyl Collection

Pocket Spin - Rhythmic Stereo Shimmer

Thank you for installing Pocket Spin, a one-knob modulation unit designed to warp time, twist pitch, and smear space. It's not your average chorus or vibrato. This is lopsided modulation, like dusty tape reels, tripped delay heads, and woozy flangers all trying to hold it together.

As you turn the knob, it starts spinning faster… bending pitch, wobbling timing, and washing your dry signal in rhythmic shimmer. Spin is for when things feel too stiff, too locked, too boring. It adds liquid.

🎧 How to Think of It in a Session:

Use Pocket Spin when your track is too tight. When the groove needs to breathe or blur. When your synth, guitar, or vocal feels pinned to a grid and you want to stretch time without a DAW lane.

At low values it adds a slow sway, like a vinyl record just barely off-center. At high values it becomes a psychedelic smear, woozy, swirly, stereo-stretched.
It’s not polite. It’s expressive.

Try it on:

  • Dry synths that need life
  • Vocal tails that feel flat
  • Boring pads
  • Guitar plucks
  • Background loops that need motion

🎨 Personality:

Pocket Spin is the woozy dancer of the Vinyl Gang. Always moving, always off a little — in the best way. Obsessed with rhythm but hates the grid. Think old DJ tape decks with sticky pitch sliders and warped reels.

He lives in the echoes, spins his hat backward, and bends time like a vinyl magician. Spaced-out but never sloppy — always hitting you a few milliseconds late, like it meant to.

🧠 What It Does Sonically:

At 0%, the signal is untouched. But turn the knob and you’ll hear:

  • Dual LFO-driven comb modulation - introduces shifting phase, stereo sway
  • BPM-locked wobble - timing aligns with tempo, creating rhythmic movement
  • Stereo desync - each channel drifts slightly differently
  • Spectral EQ drift - tonal shifts that feel like the high end is breathing
  • Stacked delay modulation - pitch wobbles subtly then intensifies
  • Reverb tail swirl - adds wash and dimensional haze at higher levels

The result: stereo shimmer with analog-style pitch blur. Not static. Not clinical. Just spin.

🧰 How It Fits into the Vinyl Gang:

Where Pocket Hiss adds air, Pocket Vinyl adds warmth, and Pocket Crackle adds crust - Pocket Spin adds movement. He doesn’t sit still.

Use him after Pocket Vinyl to smear a glued signal. Use him before Pocket Boost to wobble your energy. Stack with Pocket Tape if you’re feeling brave.

This is vinyl motion - not perfect flutter, but imperfect spin. The kind you feel.

🔬 What It Actually Does Under the Hood:

  • BPM-aligned LFOs driving dual comb filters
  • Random drift injected into modulation speed
  • Stereo phase offset for widened motion
  • Spectral shift EQ sweep tied to LFO depth
  • Zita-style stereo reverb tail for smear
  • Dry/Wet nonlinear blend with soft clip protection
  • Smart knob curve for expressive response

All in one knob. Lightweight. Fully dynamic. No click-fests.
